This week John is once again joined by Gregg Gregory to discuss the most 90’s album that exists, Blink-182’s Enema of the State. We look at how producer Jerry Finn and drummer Travis Barker changed the sound of the band, the background of the album, and go track by track to see whether or not this album is childish or if it has some substance that may be lacking on the surface. Also our talking heads return to give a background on Nirvana Unplugged.

Tuesday Dec 19, 2017
Tuesday Dec 19, 2017
For the season finale of the Because Maybe Podcast, John is joined by fiction expert, Molly Watson, to talk about the great Pulp Fiction. We look at the plot, themes, and discuss what is in the briefcase. We also look at which characters deserve their own spin offs, as well as which characters were not a stretch for the actors who play them. We also have our Sarcastic Teen give us some holiday cheer, and give folks an update on the future of the podcast, going into our winter break, and new season.

A little something different for you guys, the very first episode of Because Maybe Extra! I will periodically release these as we record them. After disagreeing with me, my son joins me to explain why I was 100% wrong in my recommendation that Super Mario 3 was a better game than super Mario world.

We’re back!!! Yes guys the podcast that takes no prisoners, because we are not law enforcement, is back, and raring to go for Season 2! This week begins our discussion about women of rock, and John is joined by Sarah to discuss the foundations of 90’s rock, starting with how female musicians were perceived in the 80’s, as well as long discussion about Courtney Love, and her legacy, and more importantly, her music.
We also have a look at one of the most controversial moments in SNL history, and all the usual bits and nonsense.

Things just keep rolling along, John explains why he was late dropping this week’s pod, his 2 minutes of fame, and some thoughts about Kevin Smith. Then he is joined by Sarah as they continue their discussion on the Women of 90’s Rock, featuring analysis of some of the bands and artists of the day, as well as our own fandom, and ask if in terms of critical recognition, female rock stars were treated as equal to the men of the day. We also look at Lillith Fair, and the concept of organic grass roots music events, as opposed to corporate reboots.
That as well as a look at something that could be considered fraud…

Wow, it feels like forever. Apologies for the delay, but we are back, with our FINAL look at the women of 90’s rock, as John is joined once again by Sarah, as we take a look at the 4 albums that she has selected as the best 4 of the 90’s from female rock artists. We also acknowledge Kim Deal, something we didn’t do last week, as well as a whole lot of nonsense because it’s late and we need coffee. Our Sarcastic Teen is also back for a few words, and John also explains the reasons behind the delay.

THE '90s Podcast - Season 02- Episode 04 - Nick Hornby: High Fidelity (1993)
Sunday Mar 25, 2018
Sunday Mar 25, 2018
John is flying solo this week, as we take a look at one of his favourite books, Nick Hornby’s High Fidelity. We go on a journey that looks in depth at why the main character is both detestable, and lovable, why music played an important role in his life, and how a bunch of lists helped redeem himself to becoming a better person.
We also take a look at some of our listeners “Top 4-8 albums you would take with you everywhere, and not in any way related to Desert Island Discs”, and crown what is the album most people would take with them, as well as looking at a real product, with a “Crappy” name…
